University of Redlands Earns Top-50 Finish (No. 49) in Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings

2021-22 Learfield Director' Cup Standings

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Athletic Department found themselves inside the Top-50 in the final Division III Learfield Directors' Cup standings for 2021-22, coming in at No. 49 announced by the Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) earlier this week. 

The Bulldogs collected 360.50 points on the year with 89.00 of them coming in the fall (2021), another 46.50 in the winter (2021-22) and then 225.00 in the spring (2022).  After the fall Redlands sat at No. 63 in the standings and then dropped to No. 80 following the winter sports.  But they were able to make a big push up to No. 49 in the final polls following one of the biggest springs in program history. 

This final ranking is the highest for the Bulldogs since 2012-13 when they landed at No. 32.  The highest finish ever in program history is from the 2004-05 season when they were ranked No. 16.          

Women's Golf led the Maroon and Grey with 90 points collected following their Runners-Up finish at the NCAA Division III National Championships, the highest finish in program history.  Tucker Cargile (Denver, CO) also picked up 46.50 points himself when he became an All-American in the Mile during the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.  Men's Soccer totaled 64.00 points when they advanced to the Round of 16 after beating Concordia (TX) and Pacific Lutheran in the NCAA Regional finishing 9th overall in the NCAA Division III National Championships.  Women's Tennis did the same during their run at Nationals finishing 9th in the Round of 16 after upsetting then No. 14 Trinity (TX) 5-4, while hauling in another 64.00 points.

Women's Track & Field made a statement at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships taking 34th following All-American runs by Andrea Lyon (Danville, CA) (400m) and the 4x100 Relay Team (Courtney O'Neal (Las Vegas, NV), Sydney Harness (Henderson, NV), Alexandra Ackerman (Lake Elsinore, CA), Lyon).  They added another 39.00 points to the total.  The Men's Track & Field Team also provided support bringing in 32.00 points after they took 38th behind an All-American finish by Cargile (800m).

The other 25.00 points came via the Football team who claimed the 2021 SCIAC Championship Title and a berth into the NCAA Division III National Championships where they finished 17th overall.                

Tufts won the Learfield Cup after totaling 1080 points.  They were followed by Johns Hopkins (1043 points), Middlebury (1000.50 points), MIT (936.75 points), and WashU (922.50 points) who rounded out the Top-5.  Claremont-Mudd-Scripps was the top finisher with the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) landing at No. 8 (858 points), while Pomona-Pitzer came in at No. 14 (743 points).
