Redlands Men's and Women's Golf Sweep SCIAC Golfer of the Week Awards For the Second Time

For the second week in a row, two Redlands golfers were selected as Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Golfers of the Week for their impressive performances at the CLU Kingsmen and Regals Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.

Sophomore Joshua Fambro (Taos, NM) led the No. 21 Redlands men's golf team to a second-place finish as the Bulldogs shot back-to-back 310s for a two-day total of 620, only one stroke out of first place.

Fambro shot the lowest round of the two-day invitational with a two-under-par 70 on Monday and finished three-over-par for the event with an overall score of 147 (70-77). He won the tournament by four strokes and combined for 23 pars and six birdies over the 36 holes.

Junior Kendall Nicholson (Bellevue, WA) significantly helped the No. 1 women's golf team to a first-place finish at the CLU Regals Invitational earlier this week. The Maroon and Gray secured the top spot with a final tally of 619 (318-301).

After signing her scorecard with an 82 on day one, Nicholson regrouped to carry out a 12-stroke improvement and shot a tournament-low, two-under-par 70 on day two. With seven birdies that round, she moved up from tied-for-12th to second on the individual leaderboard, to finish just one stroke behind first.

Both the men's and women's golf teams look forward to hosting the Bulldog Classic on Saturday and Sunday, March 27 and 28, at the S Club in Rancho Mirage.
