The University of Redlands Softball “Field of Dreams” became a reality in 1994 when an enthusiastic fan of the softball program made a sizeable yet anonymous donation. Designed by the same architect who worked on the film, "Field of Dreams," the facility has developed into one of the best college softball diamonds in Southern California and perhaps in all of Division III.
It was enhanced in 1999 with a new batting cage and then ten years later, the facility received new windscreens with BULLDOGS emblazoned across the center field fence.
A fairly large field, the center field fence sits more than 220 feet from home plate, with left and right at 190 feet. Fans regularly choose to sit beyond the fences, enjoying the beautiful setting beneath the trees.
Outside of competing at home in nearly 20 regular-season games a year, the Bulldogs have enjoyed hosting the First Round of the NCAA Championships on two occasions in 2005 and 2006. In addition, Redlands gained the right to host the inaugural Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Postseason Tournament in 2008 and then boasted a repeat effort in 2009.
