Redlands Cross Country Provides Quality Finishes for Five All-Region Nods

Although the weather in Salem, OR, may have been cloudy, the University of Redlands cross country teams shined bright at the NCAA Division III West Regional Championships. The Bulldog women placed eighth out of 19, while the Maroon and Gray men took ninth out of 17 teams, producing the program's best results at Regionals in more than 10 years. In addition, three women and two men placed in the top 35, earning All-Region distinctions.

Freshman Maria Ramirez (Orange, CA) led the Bulldog women with her 27th-place finish in 23:35.9 on the 6k course. Senior Jessika Snincsak (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) quickly followed with a time of 23:40.8 to snag 31st place. Rounding out the women's All-Region awards, junior Kaylee Jorgensen (Claremont, CA) uncorked a time of 23:50.9 to finish 34th overall.

In addition, sophomore Ellie Ramsey (Waterbury, VT) and freshman Carly Veasy (Camas, WA) completed Redlands' top-five finishers with times of 25:19.8 and 25:41.4, respectively.

For the men, senior Abhinav Nagpal (Cypress, CA) took home Redlands' best showing on the 8k course with a 23rd-place time of 26:53.4, while sophomore Benjamin Casey (Highland Park, IL) also collected All-Region honors with his 30th-place performance in 27:03.3.

Junior Sean Unger (Carlsbad, CA) also produced top marks with a time of 27:29.7 for a 37th-place finish. Capping off the Redlands top five, senior Erik Chazin (Hollis, NH) and junior David Galindo (East Los Angeles, CA) completed the race with respective times of 28:22.6 and 28:36.6.

The Bulldogs look forward to the NCAA's announcement regarding the qualified teams for the national meet.  This will take place on Sunday, November 13, at 10 a.m.
