The University of Redlands cross country teams took on Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition for the first time this season, battling all member schools at the SCIAC Multi-Duals at La Mirada Park. The Bulldog men recorded a 2-6 record with wins over Cal Lutheran University and Chapman University. The Redlands women registered a 5-3 showing by defeating Cal Lutheran, Caltech, Chapman, the University of La Verne, and Whittier College.
In the men's race, the Bulldogs gained a 20th-place performance from senior Abhinav Nagpal (Cypress, CA), who paced the team with this 8k-time of 27:05.74. Sophomore Benjamin Casey (Highland Park, IL) quickly followed in 30th with a time of 27:20.07, while junior Sean Unger (Carlsbad, CA) also recorded a sub-28-minute time when he crossed the finish line 27:37.75. Senior Erik Chazin (Hollis, NH) completed the 8k-course in 28:24.79, as freshman Nolan Ridgeway (Long Beach, CA) uncorked the best time of his young career at 28:41.92 as the fifth Bulldog racer.
For the women, senior Jessika Snincsak (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) led the Bulldogs with her eighth-place time of 22:41.06 on the 6k-course. Junior Kaylee Jorgensen (Claremont, CA) and freshman Maria Ramirez (Orange, CA) each finished among the top 20 with their respective, career-best times of 23:16.24 and 23:21.91. While competing in their first collegiate 6k-race, freshmen Carly Veasy (Camas, WA) and Sarah Shipway (Lafayette, CA) each put together a quality showing by crossing the finish line in 24:36.23 and 24:41.37, respectively.
Redlands heads to the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday, October 15, for a 7:30 a.m. race.
