Redlands Women's Volleyball Downs Citrus Owls on the Road

GLENDORA, Calif – The University of Redlands Bulldogs women's volleyball program beat Citrus College 3-1 in a match against a non-countable opponent.

The Bulldogs opened the game with the first point of the match thanks to a Kiki Stradford (Lake Forest, Calif.) kill. Saudya Reagor (Banning, Calif.) gave the Bulldogs a 13-10 lead in the first set after an ace and a pair of kills. A pair of Natalie Starlin (Las Vegas, Nev.) kills got the Bulldogs within four points of winning the first set, 21-17. With the match then tied at 21, the Bulldogs won four of the final five points and took the first set 25-22 after four more points from Reagor.

It was a slow start to the second set with the Bulldogs down 8-0 until Paige Davidson (Spanaway, Wash.) got them on the board with a kill. Katie Allbery (Spokane, Wash.) sparked a quick 3-0 run after a kill with the Bulldogs down 10. Later in the set, down eight, the Bulldogs won seven of eight points, with two of the points coming off Allbery kills. A slow finish to the set evened the score at one set apiece.

Down 3-0 to begin the third set, the Bulldogs won nine of the next 10 with Laural Pittman (Granada Hills, Calif.) serving for seven of the points and winning two of them with service aces. The Bulldogs pulled within three of taking a second set after winning seven of eight points that included two Reagor kills. Reagor then ended the set with a block and gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead.

Makayla Sorenson (Lakewood, Calif.) served four-straight winning points that gave the Bulldogs a 13-8 lead mid-way through the fourth set. Then Stradford and Davidson teamed up for an assisted block to end the fourth set and the match 25-16.

With the completion of the match, the Bulldogs move to their final non-conference match before Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play against UC Santa Cruz on Saturday, September 18 at 1:00 p.m.
