The University of Redlands volleyball team faced off against the third-ranked Regals of Cal Lutheran University on Saturday night but came home from Thousand Oaks with a sweeping defeat, 18-25, 11-25, 22-25.

Although the Bulldogs battled through the final set, earning their best score of the night in that frame, the Regals remained on course to win this season's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championship with an undefeated record.

For Redlands, sophomore middle blocker Marisa Gile (Yucaipa, CA) registered her second-highest hitting percentage of the season, knocking down a team-high eight kills on 18 attempts for a .389 mark.

Sophomore libero Karly Burningham (Sonoma, CA) led all players with 13 digs, while sophomore setter Lauren Ellingwood (Kirkland, WA) dished out 12 assists for the Maroon and Gray.

Redlands (6-19, 3-10 SCIAC) faces a heavy slate in the final week of the regular season, hosting Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. before heading to Occidental College on Friday.  The Bulldogs then return home on Saturday for Senior Night against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at 6 p.m.
