The University of Redlands volleyball team battled it out with its second nationally-ranked opponent of the month, falling to No. 25 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in three sets.  The Bulldogs continued to show signs of breaking through to the next level but came up short against the Athenas by scores 18-25, 23-25, 16-25.

During the second set, Redlands faced an early deficit but clawed its way back to 23-24.  Unfortunately, it was a little too late for the Bulldogs, as CMS put away the next point for the stanza-victory.

The Maroon and Gray gained a team-high 11 kills from the Redlands ODK Student-Athlete of the Month, senior outside hitter Morgan Buckner (San Rafael, CA).  She also provided 11 digs to lead the squad.

Freshman middle blocker Allison Jensen (Redlands, CA) fired off a ridiculous hitting percentage of .467 en route to knocking down seven kills for the Bulldogs.

Sophomore Courtney Johnson (Dana Point, CA) provided 10 of the team's 53 digs for the night.

The Bulldogs (5-11, 2-7 SCIAC) return home to the friendly confines of Currier Gym on Friday for a pair of matches.  Redlands takes the court at 1 p.m. for a non-conference showdown with regional rival, UC Santa Cruz, before battling it out with Chapman University in a SCIAC bout at 7:30 p.m.
