Bulldog Women's Tennis faces tough test with No. 13 Williams College

REDLANDS, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team looked for an upset with No. 13 Williams College Thursday afternoon but was unable to pick up a point as they fell 5-0 at the Verdieck Tennis Center.    

The match was scheduled for 11:00am, but due to the wet courts it was pushed back a few hours and didn't get started until the early afternoon.  The Ephs picked up all three doubles points despite them being tight.  Olivia Rockwood (Park City, UT) and Kendall Bolock (Yucaipa, CA) fell at the top 8-5 and Madison Sherwood (Las Vegas, NV) and Mia Goldstein (Ann Arbor, MI) fell by the same score at No. 3. 

Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) and Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) were the last match on and they tried to keep UR in the match forcing a breaker at No. 2, but would eventually fall 8-7 (3).  In singles Williams grabbed two quick points at No. 4 and No. 5 to pick up the win.  Goldstein, at No. 4 dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision and O'Brien would fall 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5.       

The match was played to decision so four of the six singles matches were still in play.  Bolock at the top dropped the opening set 6-1 but was in front in the second 4-1 with momentum.  L. Rockwood was down a set 6-4, but was on serve at 3-3 in the second.  Brady at No. 3 dropped her opening frame 6-3, but she was up a game 4-3 in the second.  The last match still on was Sherwood at No. 6 who was trailing 6-2, 4-1.     

Redlands enters Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play Friday afternoon inside the Verdieck Tennis Center when they host the Regals of California Lutheran University beginning at 3:00pm.
