CLAREMONT, Calif. – The University of Redlands Women's Tennis team faced off against their toughest competitor yet Saturday taking on No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer on the road.

The Maroon and Grey were able to keep the Sagehens from picking up the clean sweep but fell 8-1 moving to 7-5, 2-1 SCIAC.

Liv Rockwood (Park City, UT) and Mia Fitzgerald (Kilauea, HI) had the match of the day for the Bulldogs pulling out the 8-4 win at No. 2 that put UR on the scoreboard.  First years Kiana Brady (Hermosa Beach, CA) and Christine O'Brien (Leawood, KS) battled at No. 3, but faced a tough test falling 8-4, their first loss together on the season.  The last point went to PP, which came at the top spot as Kendall Bolock (Yucaipa, CA) and Gabby Rockwood (Park City, UT) would go down 8-1 giving the Sagehens a 2-1 advantage.

Despite dropping all six singles matches the Maroon and Grey showed heart and forced two of them into three-setters.  Bolock took the opening frame at No. 3 against Marissa Markey 7-6, but was broken late in the second set at 6-4 before falling 10-8 in the third set breaker.  Fitzgerald was in the same boat jumping out in front quickly with a 6-2 first set win, but couldn't keep the momentum falling 7-5, 10-2.

Brady combined for three games at No. 2 dropping 6-2, 6-1 and L. Rockwood, G. Rockwood and O'Brien would combine for four games, all coming at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

Redlands looks to bounce back next weekend when they host Caltech on Friday, April 8 beginning at 3:00pm before traveling to take on Occidental on Saturday, April 9 (10:00am).
