Senior Standout Natalie Etchegaray Named ITA West Region Senior Player of the Year

It was announced earlier today that senior Natalie Etchegaray (Placentia, CA) of the 19th-ranked University of Redlands women's tennis team was tabbed the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) West Region Senior Player of the Year.

Etchegaray, who also was named the 2015 ITA West Region Player to Watch, secured the Bulldogs' No. 1 spot in singles throughout her final season.  Following her All-America showing as a junior, she garnered an impressive 18-4 record in dual-match action during the current campaign.  This includes a 10-match unbeaten streak that dates back to late March.

After going undefeated in conference competition, she became a four-time First-Team All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) honoree.

In doubles, Etchegaray and senior teammate Lauren Villanueva (El Segundo, CA) have shored up the top spot en route to a 15-7 overall record during the dual-match season.

Etchegaray looks forward to competing in the NCAA Division III Individual Championships for Singles and Doubles later this week. She faces Ashnaa Rao of Johns Hopkins University (MD) in the first round of action, which takes place on Thursday at Kalamazoo College in Michigan.   She and Villanueva square off against the top doubles team from Williams College (MA) later that afternoon.
