The No. 19 University of Redlands women's tennis team traveled to Pasadena on Saturday to face off against the Caltech Beavers in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match.  After sweeping the doubles, the Bulldogs prevailed in straight sets in five of the six singles matches en route to the 8-1 victory.

The No. 1 tandem of seniors Lauren Villanueva (El Segundo, CA) and Natalie Etchegaray (Placentia, CA) initiated the scoring with an impressive 8-1 showing, before senior Gabriela Vasquez (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) and junior Emily Murnin (Salt Lake City, UT) put together an 8-3 win at No. 3.  Freshmen Kate Dolan (St. Louis, MO) and Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) completed the doubles sweep by earning an 8-2 victory over their No. 2 opponents.

In singles, Redlands wasted little time in earning the overall triumph, as junior Stephanie Ramos (Sacramento, CA) and Vasquez fired off efficient wins at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively.  Ramos won without dropping a game, 6-0, 6-0, while Vasquez recorded a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

With the match already in hand, the Bulldogs also gained positive results from Etchegaray, Villanueva, and Johnson.

Redlands (14-6, 6-1 SCIAC) closes out the dual-match SCIAC schedule with an important match against the third-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Sagehens on Saturday, April 30, at 10 a.m. in Claremont.
