No. 21 U of R Women's Tennis Stumbles to Washington University - St. Louis

The No. 21 University of Redlands women's tennis team capped off a busy week of competition by taking on the No. 10 Washington University – St. Louis (MO) Bears in a non-conference showdown on Verdieck Courts.  While leaving it all on the courts and forcing multiple three-setters, the Bulldogs came up short by a score of 1-8.

Freshman Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) notched the only point for the Maroon and Gray with her comeback performance at No. 4 singles.  After losing the first set, 0-6, she battled all the way back to take the next set, 6-4, before earning the victory with a 10-7 showing in the match tiebreak.

In addition, senior Lauren Villanueva (El Segundo, CA) and freshman Kate Dolan (St. Louis, MO) each won their opening sets by a score of 7-5, but struggled to hold on to that momentum and ultimately fell in their respective match tiebreak.

Redlands (6-3) strives to return to the win column on Tuesday, March 15, when it squares off against the No. 36 University of Texas – Tyler on Verdieck Courts at 2 p.m.
