No. 18 Redlands Women's Tennis Cruises to 9-0 Win over Cal Lutheran

The No. 18 University of Redlands women's tennis team took to the road on Friday afternoon in order to square off against the Regals of Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.  With a solid showing at every spot in the line-up, the Bulldogs secured a 9-0 sweep in the important Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match.

Senior Julia Pollak (Holland, PA) and junior Lauren Villanueva (El Segundo, CA) put Redlands on the board with their 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.  Senior Ceara Sumida (Hilo, HI) and junior Natalie Etchegaray (Placentia, CA) kept things rolling by dismissing the top counterparts, 8-1, while junior Gabriela Vasquez (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) and senior Maddie Morton (Henderson, NV) completed the Bulldog sweep with an 8-4 triumph at the No. 3 slot.

In singles, Pollak provided a dominating display at No. 6, as she did not give up a game in the 6-0, 6-0 triumph.  Etchegaray officially put this victory in the books for the Bulldogs by taking down her opponent at No. 1 by scores of 6-1, 6-0.

Furthermore, Villanueva, Sumida, Vasquez, and sophomore Emily Murnin (Salt Lake City, UT) preserved the Maroon and Gray's shutout with their respective straight-set showings in the final four singles matches.

Redlands (11-7, 4-3 SCIAC) heads to Whittier College for the final conference dual-match of the season on Friday, April 17.  First serve against the Poets is slated for 1 p.m.
