The University of Redlands women's tennis team competed at the 2014 USTA/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Fall Regional Championships in Claremont on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, earning great experiences against in-region players from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Six Bulldogs notched first-round singles wins before junior Gabriela Vasquez (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) made the most of the consolation bracket by advancing to the quarterfinals. After notching a first-round victory over Caltechs' Erin Wang, Vasquez suffered a straight-set defeat that sent her to the consolation draw. From here, she prevailed over the University of La Verne's Janae Chinn, 6-2, 6-4, and Whittier College's Benay Weintraub, 6-4, 6-3, for a solid outing at the tournament.

In addition, senior Maddie Morton (Henderson, NV) made her return to action with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Lindsey Wolf from Cal Lutheran University. Sophomore Stephany Yang (Taipei, Taiwan) registered a 6-3, 6-1 triumph over Areli Martinez of the University of La Verne, while senior Ceara Sumida (Hilo, HI) notched a shutout performance against Whittier College's Ann Bailleul. Finally, sophomore Emily Murnin (Salt Lake City, UT) and senior Julia Pollak (Holland, PA) came out victorious in straight sets, dismissing their respective opponents while dropping only one game apiece.

In doubles, three of the four duos grabbed victories in the opening round. Vasquez and Morton joined forces for an 8-1 showing over a tandem from Pomona-Pitzer, as Sumida and Pollak earned an 8-3 triumph against another Sagehen team. Finally, the freshman combination of Tyler Garant (Anaheim Hills, CA) and Claire Bohoskey (Yakima, WA) put together an 8-3 win over a CMS duo.

With the fall portion of the competitive season now complete, Redlands looks forward to hosting the annual alumnae match on January 24, 2015, at 9 a.m. on Verdieck Courts.
