No. 10 Bulldog Women's Tennis Rallies for 6-3 Victory over UT Tyler

The No. 10 University of Redlands women's tennis team bounced back from yesterday's loss with a 6-3 victory over No. 30 University of Texas at Tyler earlier today on Verdieck Courts. The Bulldogs faced an early 1-2 deficit after doubles but fought back to win at five of the six singles matches, securing the non-conference win over the visiting Patriots.

In doubles, the No. 1 duo of seniors Paige Sumida (Hilo, HI) and Whitney Waters (Austin, TX) initiated the scoring with a solid 8-2 victory. Although the remaining two matches went the Patriots' way, the Bulldogs refused to be discouraged and took control in the singles matches.

Waters continued her winning ways of the day by downing her No. 3 opponent in solid fashion, 6-0, 6-2, which evened the overall score at 2-2.

With a 6-2, 6-4 performance at the No. 1 slot, junior Rachael Miller (Newport Beach, CA) also dominated her opponent to give Redlands the 3-2 lead.

Sumida then cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the No. 2 position while junior Sara Yoshinaga (Honolulu, HI) captured the deciding point at No. 4 with her 6-3, 6-3 win.

Senior Sutton Anderson (Breckenridge, CO) garnered a bonus victory at No. 6, coming from behind to win 1-6, 7-6(3), 10-6.

Redlands (4-2, 3-0 SCIAC) returns to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action on Friday at 2 p.m. with a showdown against Cal Lutheran University on Verdieck Courts. This match was originally scheduled for Feb. 27 but was postponed due to rain.
