The University of Redlands women's soccer squad competed in its final Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) game of the regular season on Saturday night against the Occidental College Tigers. Despite firing off 14 shots, the Bulldogs struggled to find the net, resulting in a 0-2 loss.

The Bulldogs created plenty of offensive opportunities in the opening frame by uncorking eight shots. The trio of senior midfielder Savannah Laursen (Boise, ID), senior midfielder Summer Norquist (Boise, ID), and freshman forward Hayley Romo (Port Orchard, WA) combined for six shots in the opening 45 minutes.

Unfortunately, the Tigers notched a score in the 38th minute to force Redlands to respond in the second half.

A handful of Bulldogs worked to send home the equalizer in the second half, featuring attempts from senior midfielder Cassie Lively (Redmond, WA), junior defender Sammie Burghardt (Gig Harbor, WA), and sophomore forward Mollie Craighead (Descanso, CA), but to no avail.

Norquist and Romo led the squad with three shots each, while freshman midfielder Lauren Bay (Oak Park, CA) and Laursen backed them with two apiece.

Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Menk (Pleasanton, CA) picked up the loss, despite hauling in eight saves in 90 minutes between the posts.

Regardless of tonight's outcome, the Bulldogs remain the top seed for the upcoming SCIAC Postseason Tournament. Redlands (11-4-2, 9-4-1 SCIAC) plays host to the fourth-seeded Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Sagehens on Thursday, November 5, at 7 p.m.

Additional information regarding the SCIAC Postseason Tournament will be released Monday, November 2 on GoRedlands.com.
