While donning pink uniforms, the University of Redlands women's soccer team took to the pitch at Farquhar Field for Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action on Wednesday night by taking on the Occidental Tigers in a game that promoted Breast Cancer Awareness. Despite owning a 16-5 shots advantage, the Bulldogs struggled to find the back of the net in a 0-2 loss to the Tigers.

Redlands got off to a rough start, as the home team surrendered two first-half goals, forcing the Bulldogs into a game of catch-up. Nevertheless, the Bulldogs fired off seven shots in the first half, with senior forward Jen Franklin (Shoreline, WA) and senior midfielder Summer Norquist (Boise, ID) uncorking two shots each.

The Maroon and Gray saw numerous chances in the second half en route to hammering off nine shots in the final 45 minutes. Junior midfielder McKenzie Oliger (Seattle, WA) highlighted the opportunities with a 15-yard blast that banged off the crossbar. Norquist fired off three more shots - one of which was barely tipped and saved by the Tigers' goalkeeper. Freshman forward Hayley Romo (Port Orchard, WA) and senior midfielder Savannah Laursen (Boise, ID) notched one shot apiece, but to no avail.

The Bulldog backline of senior Sam Keary (Mission Viejo, CA), junior Faith Campbell (Bainbridge Island, WA), sophomore Erin Schlosser (Sammamish, WA), and freshman Nina Arzu (Guatemala) limited the Tigers to five shots on goal the entire game, with only one coming in the second half.

Senior goalkeeper Lexi Felix (Kailua, HI) finished the game between the posts and hauled in one save in a flawless 45 minutes of play.

The Bulldogs travel to Claremont on Saturday, October 10, to face off against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Athenas at 7 p.m.
