Redlands Women's Soccer Stumped by Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens for First Loss of Season

The University of Redlands women's soccer team continued Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action on Wednesday evening by facing off against the Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Sagehens in nearby Claremont. The Bulldogs hit rough terrain after surrendering seven goals in an uncharacteristic shutout loss.

The Bulldogs fired off seven shots in each half, with six of the 14 landing on-frame. Senior duo Savannah Laursen (Boise, ID) and Summer Norquist (Boise, ID) each tried her foot four times but came up empty. Senior midfielder Isabella Baez (Zionsville, IN) hammered off two shots as well.

The Maroon and Gray kept the game tight throughout the opening stanza and faced a one-goal deficit after a late score by the Sagehens. Sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Menk (Pleasanton, CA) notched two saves in 45 minutes of action.

Unfortunately for Redlands, the home squad found its rhythm during the second frame and fired off a relentless barrage of goals.

The Bulldogs (3-1-1, 2-1-0 SCIAC) strive to rebound on Sunday, September 27, when they welcome the Whittier College Poets to Farquhar Field for a 7 p.m. SCIAC showdown.
