Redlands Women’s Soccer Falls to Occidental College

The University of Redlands women's soccer team took to the road on Wednesday night for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown against the Occidental College Tigers.  Despite out-shooting the home team, 13-8, the Bulldogs gave up a goal in each half en route to the difficult 0-2 loss.

Redlands came out firing in the first frame, as junior midfielder Savannah Laursen (Boise, ID) blasted a shot off the post in the 18th minute of action.

Moments later, the Tigers found space in front of the Bulldog net to score the game's first goal of the night.

However, the Maroon and Gray responded with an offensive onslaught that saw senior forward Tanya Haggen (Bellingham, WA), sophomore midfielder Kate Frame (Fox Island, WA), and junior midfielder Summer Norquist (Boise, ID) each fire off shots on-frame, forcing the Tiger goalkeeper to come up with the saves.

During the second half, Redlands continued to pressure on the offensive end, but it was Occidental that managed to come up with the netter in the 55th minute.

Although the Bulldogs mustered four more opportunities, they struggled to find the break-through shot before time ran out.

Redlands (6-4, 4-3 SCIAC) strives to get back on track when it travels to Orange on Saturday for an 11 a.m. tilt against Chapman University.
