The University of Redlands women's soccer team continued its Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) schedule by taking to the road on Saturday to face Pomona-Pitzer Colleges. The Maroon and Gray struggled offensively throughout the contest and fell to the Sagehens by a score of 1-3.

Within the first five minutes of the contest, both squads fired off one shot each, with senior forward Tanya Haggen (Bellingham, WA) unleashing an attempt for the Maroon and Gray.

The Bulldogs faced an early deficit after the home squad netted the first score of the game in the seventh minute of competition.

However, the Bulldogs came charging back to even the count just two minutes later. Sophomore forward Kate Frame (Fox Island, WA) uncorked a shot from six yards out after a dual assist from sophomore midfielder Erin Lau (Reno, NV) and sophomore defender Faith Campbell (Bainbridge Island, WA).

Despite the immediate answer from Redlands, the Sagehens quickly responded by finding the back of the net yet again, taking a 2-1 lead in the 10th minute.

Junior midfielder Cassie Lively (Redmond, WA), junior midfielder Summer Norquist (Boise, ID), and senior forward Lihini Weerasinghe (Redlands, CA) all secured scoring chances in the first half but were unable to cash in.

During the second stanza, Lively continued her offensive charge by firing off a shot in the 48th minute but was denied.

After Pomona-Pitzer gained a two-goal advantage, the U of R earned few chances for the remainder of the second half, as only Haggen added to Lively's tally for the Bulldogs' two shots of the stanza.

Redlands remained true to its goalkeeper strategy, as junior Lexi Felix (Kailua, HI) and freshman Hannah Menk (Pleasanton, CA) split time in the Bulldog net. Felix recorded two saves and Menk recorded four, as they each played 45 minutes between the pipes.

The Bulldogs logged eight shots and two corner kicks, and only committed five fouls.

Redlands (3-2, 1-1 SCIAC) continues SCIAC competition on Wednesday when it heads to Thousand Oaks to take on Cal Lutheran University (2-3-1, 0-1) in William-Rolland Stadium at 7 p.m.
