The University of Redlands women's soccer team played in its seventh overtime game of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Cal Lutheran Regals, 2-3, in double-overtime.  Despite have a two-goal lead at the half, the Bulldogs could not hang on for the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) victory.

Redlands began the game on fire, and scored the match's first goal in the 21st minute when sophomore midfielder Savannah Laursen (Boise, ID) crossed the ball from a free kick to senior defender Megan Marks (Boise, ID).  Marks rose above the Regal defenders and headed the ball into the back of the net to give the Maroon and Gray the early lead.  For Marks, it was her first score of the year.

Laursen doubled the Bulldog lead 13 minutes later with a goal of her own, and by halftime, the U of R maintained its two-goal advantage.  In a mostly defensive first half, each team recorded only three shots, with Redlands scoring on two of three.

Cal Lutheran halved the deficit in the 66th minute when Taylor Will found the back of the net off an assist from Bailey Marquez. 

The Bulldogs tried to extend the advantage back to two scores for the remainder of the second stanza, but the Regals tied the match in the 83rd minute when Brittany Eremita scored for Cal Lutheran.

Neither team found the finishing touch during the remainder of regulation, sending the game into overtime.

In the first extra period, both teams were shutout, but the Regals found the game-winner 14 seconds into the second overtime stanza when Will registered her second score of the contest.

For the game, the U of R was outshot by Cal Lutheran, 6-16, and edged in corner kicks, 3-6.

The Bulldogs (2-7-3, 2-4-2 SCIAC) return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Chapman University (8-5-1, 5-3-0 SCIAC) to take on the Panthers in another conference showdown.  Kickoff in Orange is scheduled for 4 p.m.
