The University of Redlands women's soccer team came up just short against No. 3 Wheaton College (IL) on Saturday evening in Wheaton, IL, falling to the Thunder, 0-1.  It was once again a second-half goal conceded that led to the tough defeat for the Maroon and Gray.

During the first 45 minutes, the U of R racked up 11 shots, while allowing just seven on its own frame.  Additionally, the Bulldogs notched two corner-kicks as compared to just one for Wheaton.

In the second stanza, Redlands continued to pour on the offensive pressure, ripping 14 more shots on the Thunder goal, none of which found the back of the net.

The only score of the game came in the 72nd minute for Wheaton, when Ally Witt scored for the Thunder.

The Bulldogs continued to push the tempo, however, trying to find the equalizer during the final 18 minutes, but came up unsuccessful.

On the night, Redlands outshot Wheaton, 25-18, and tallied 13 shots on goal compared to only five for the Thunder.

Leading the attack for the U of R, sophomore midfielder Savannah Laursen (Boise, ID) registered five shots.  Junior forward Tanya Haggen (Bellingham, WA) also provided five shots for the Bulldogs, while sophomore midfielder Summer Norquist (Boise, ID) recorded four for the game.

Senior goalkeeper Sabrina Grandke-Bawab (Kirkland, WA) played all 90 minutes in goal for the Maroon and Gray, making three saves.

The Bulldogs return home before heading to Santa Cruz next weekend for two more non-conference contests.  On Saturday, September 7, Redlands takes on Illinois Wesleyan University at 10 a.m. and then matches up against Whitman College (WA) on Sunday, September 8, at 3 p.m.
