Stellar Six Represents Redlands on All-SCIAC Women's Lacrosse Teams

It was announced earlier today that six University of Redlands women's lacrosse players landed on the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Teams for contributions during the 2017 season. Sophomore midfielder Hanna Morford (West Linn, OR) and junior goalkeeper Quinn Egan (Greenwood Village, CO) earned First-Team accolades, while senior attack player Dulce Moll (Mercer Island, WA), junior midfielder Lacey Bjorndal (Sherwood, OR), and freshman midfielder Sadie Pickering (Tacoma, WA) landed on the Second Team.  Finally, junior defender Katie Koehler (Jackson, WY) represented Redlands on the SCIAC's All-Sportsmanship Team.

With a spot on the First Team, Morford receives her first such award in just her second season with the Maroon and Gray.  In 10 conference games, she played an instrumental role in the Bulldogs' offense by firing off a team-high 25 goals and dishing out 12 assists for 37 points.  She converted six free-position shots in the process.  Throughout the SCIAC season, she scored at least one goal in every game.  Beyond scoring, Morford hauled in 29 draw controls, collected 21 ground balls, and forced 10 opponent turnovers.  Recently, she was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week after scoring seven goals and distributing two assists in the Maroon and Gray's 15-11 win over Occidental College on April 19.

Egan also earns her inaugural All-SCIAC award with this year's First-Team selection.  She served as Redlands' primary goalkeeper throughout the season, earning 105 saves in more than 575 minutes of action in 10 SCIAC games.  She recorded 10 or more saves in six games against conference opponents.  This team captain also offered great awareness and tenacity in pursuit of the ball by forcing 10 opponent turnovers and grabbing 32 ground balls.

Moll becomes a three-time All-SCIAC honoree with this year's Second-Team nod.  This year, this team captain notched 14 goals and 11 assists for 25 points during the conference season.  This included five multi-goal games, as highlighted by her four-goal, two-assist effort at Occidental College on March 29.  Overall, she scooped up 12 ground balls and three draw controls for the Maroon and Gray.

Bjorndal's presence on the draw was impressive, as she snagged 31 draw controls to lead the Bulldogs in conference games.  She also uncorked 21 goals, including 10 successful free-position shots, for a shooting percentage of 53.8%.  Finally, this team captain registered 15 ground balls and three caused turnovers en route to earning her first All-Conference nod.

Finally, Pickering collects her inaugural All-SCIAC award as a first-year contributor.  While competing in all 10 conference games, she scored 22 goals and offered two assists for 24 points.  She registered one or more goals in all but two SCIAC games this season.  Overall, she also snagged 22 draw controls and 17 ground balls while causing 10 opponent turnovers.  Pickering was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week after scoring five goals on five shots in the Maroon and Gray's 15-9 win over Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on March 8.

Koehler represents Redlands on the All-Sportsmanship Team for her consistently positive attitude.

"She will always put the team before herself. She has improved both mentally and physically over the past three years, and there is no one more deserving of this honor," stated Head Coach Suzette Soboti.
