Women's Golf Head Coach Jack Stewart Named WGCA DIII West-Region Coach of the Year

The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced the regional award-winners on Friday afternoon, with University of Redlands Head Coach Jack Stewart selected as the 2019-20 Golf Pride Grips WGCA Division III West Region Women's Golf Coach of the Year.

During the 2019-20 season, Stewart guided the Bulldogs to back-to-back historic finishes as the team showcased the second (587) and third-lowest (590) two-round score in program history. The team started the season ranked No. 11 on WGCA and despite the shortened season climbed the list to No. 8. The team is also ranked No. 4 on GolfStat.

The Maroon and Gray took first place overall at this year's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) No. 1 Tournament at Via Verde Golf Course in San Dimas. The whole team placed in the top-10 and shot an impressive 596 over two rounds, 15 strokes in front of second place.

Despite the cancellation of the rest of the spring season, the Bulldogs boasted a plethora of post-season awards including junior Annie Hay (University Place, WA) and first-year Hannah Jugar (Chula Vista, CA) receiving WGCA All-West Region nods and Jugar named a WGCA All-American just a day later.

Stewart joined the Maroon and Gray in 2015 and has led the Bulldogs to the NCAA Championship Tournament in 2015-16 and 2018-19. He has seen 12 All-SCIAC honorees, including three SCIAC Players of the Year and one SCIAC Newcomer of the Year. In the last four years, the Bulldogs finished SCIAC in second place or better.
