No. 7 U of R Women's Golf Orchestrates Strong Finish for Second Place at SCIAC Championship Tournament

The No. 7 University of Redlands women's golf team fired off its best round of the 54-hole Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship Tournament on Tuesday at Los Serranos Golf Club to capture second-place with a total of 945.  With today's 308, Redlands moved one stroke ahead of second-place Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, which is ranked No. 18.

While shooting her best round of the tournament at 70, junior Caroline Ordian (Palm Desert, CA) finished second in the individual standings with a 224 (74-80-70).  She registered the only eagle of the competition, which came on the first hole of Tuesday's round.  Overall, she co-led the field in par-five scoring with a plus-one average of 5.08 while finishing third for par fours at 4.17 for plus five.  Ordian tallied seven birdies and 31 pars over the three days.

While notching 30 pars and four birdies, senior Kari Gordon (Culver City, CA) revealed her consistency by recording the same score as yesterday at 79 for a 54-hole tally of 240 to tie for ninth. 

Freshman Jasmine Hsu (Fremont, CA) impressed in her inaugural SCIAC Championship Tournament by tying for 16th with a three-round total of 244 (85-77-82) that included 29 pars.

Senior Raquel Gordon (Culver City, CA) landed in 19th place after battling through a tough final 18 holes that resulted in her score of 248 (82-78-88).  She recorded five birdies and 26 pars during the tournament.

While knocking in four birdies, senior Jenna Durette (Oceanside, CA) bettered her score each round and ultimately left it all on the course with Tuesday's tally of 77 en route to a 253 (94-82-77) to tie for 24th place. 

With the aggregate scoring of all seven SCIAC rounds, the Bulldogs take second with a grand total of 2,227 for a 29-stroke lead on the Sagehens.  No. 10 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges finished the season in first at 2,192.

Redlands now awaits a possible at-large berth to the NCAA Division III Championships, which will be announced on Monday, May 1.
