Cassandra Lacey returns to Bulldog Women’s Basketball as Assistant Coach

REDLANDS, Calif. - University of Redlands Head Women's Basketball Coach Rich Murphy announced another addition to his coaching staff for the 2023-24 school year bringing on former Bulldog Women's Basketball player Cassandra Lacey '20.

"I am excited to have Cassie back home to our women's basketball program!" Murphy stated.  "She has been able to gain valuable knowledge since she has been away and I am looking forward to learning from her experiences.  Being a former highly decorated student-athlete here at the University of Redlands she understands our goals and mission to continue having success here.  She will be a huge asset to our staff and our student-athletes."   

Cassandra returns to the Maroon and Grey as an assistant coach for the second time in her career after spending the last two seasons as a member of the Pomona-Pitzer women's basketball coaching staff. 

Lacey made her way to Pomona-Pitzer after serving as an assistant coach and a four-year player at the University of Redlands. Lacey spent one season as an assistant coach for the Bulldogs following graduation and currently ranks among the Top-10 All-Time as a player in points (6th – 1162), scoring average (7th – 11.5), assists (10th – 222), games played (5th – 101), and games started (8th – 76). Lacey ended her playing career as a 1,000-point scorer, was selected the SCIAC Athlete of the Year (2019-20), was a 2nd Team All-West Region selection (2019-20) and received 1st Team All-SCIAC accolades twice.  

A native of Victorville, Lacey graduated from the University of Redlands with a double major in Environmental Science and Spanish.
