Senior Reyna Ta’amu Honored as SCIAC Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week

It was announced earlier today that senior forward Reyna Ta'amu (Lakewood, CA) of the University of Redlands was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for January 14-21.

Last week, Ta'amu played a significant role in the Bulldogs' 2-0 showing that included a 64-26 thrashing over the University of St. Katherine and an important 79-71 victory against conference foe Occidental College.  She provided 20 points on 7-for-9 shooting from the floor and a 6-for-8 effort from the charity stripe to lead Redlands over Occidental. Against St. Katherine, she tallied six points and four rebounds in only 10 minutes of action.

Ta'amu is the first Bulldog women's basketball student-athlete to garner this recognition for the 2017-18 season.

She currently leads the Bulldogs in scoring and rebounds with 14.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

Redlands (10-8, 5-4 SCIAC) hosts Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Wednesday, January 24, at 7 p.m. in Currier Gym.
