The University of Redlands women’s basketball team posted
its second rout in as many outings by destroying the visiting
Beavers of Caltech in an impressive 82-35 performance in
tonight’s Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (SCIAC) game. The Bulldogs gained at least three points
from 10 of their 11 players who saw the floor, with sophomore
forward Courtney Carroll (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA) leading the game
with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
During the first 10 minutes, the game remained tight with the
Maroon and Gray holding a slight 12-11 lead. Redlands then enjoyed
a 13-0 run to break it open by the five-minute mark.
The Bulldogs held a 34-17 lead at halftime and then made it a
40-point game with 10:16 left in the second period.
Besides Carroll, Redlands also gained a strong showing from senior
forward Meghan Yetman (Danville, CA) who had 17 points off of
8-for-10 shooting. She also added four steals, three assists and
five rebounds. Freshman guard Ashley Sevilla (San Diego, CA) and
freshman guard Allison Wong (Redding, CA) both came off the bench
for a trio of three-pointers each.
For Caltech, sophomore guard Erin Hoops (El Dorado Hills, CA)
tossed in 13 points, including a 6-for-6 performance from the
charity stripe.
The Bulldogs (16-5, 8-2 SCIAC) head to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on
Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. showdown against the Sagehens.
