Bulldog Women's Basketball Celebrates Senior Night with 53-38 Victory over Cal Lutheran

The University of Redlands women’s basketball offered a solid sendoff for senior forward Lindsey McFerran (Lakewood, WA) in her final home, regular season game on Thursday night, as the Bulldogs defeated the Regals of Cal Lutheran University by a score of 53-38.

After jumping out to an early 5-3 advantage off of a three-pointer by junior guard Ali Bueno (San Jose, CA), Redlands maintained the lead throughout the game en route to the impressive victory. The Regals never went away though, as the Bulldogs struggled to pull ahead by more than eight points in the second half. Redlands then erupted with a 13-6 run in the closing 6:43 to stymie any final efforts by Cal Lutheran.

The Bulldogs shot 50.0% from the field in the first half, including an impressive clip of 75% from long range. The Bulldogs slightly edged the Regals off the glass with 36 rebounds, compared to CLU’s 33.

Bueno paced the game with 16 points, including four from beyond the arc. Junior forward Meghan Yetman (Danville, CA) added 12 points, seven boards and three assists in a well-rounded effort.

Nita Sims led Cal Lutheran with 14 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

Redlands (18-6, 10-3 SCIAC) now boasts the most victories in a season in Bulldog women’s basketball history, surpassing the 17-win mark from last season, 2005, 2003, and 1999.

The Bulldogs currently sit in a tie for second place in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) standings. The women finish out the regular season by heading to Caltech on Saturday for a 5 p.m. game against the Beavers.
