Bulldog Track & Field comes up short in qualifying for the finals at NCAA Championships

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The University of Redlands track and field teams completed their 2023 National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday with Ella Bachmeier (Rancho Capistrano, CA), Markelle Raymond (Fresno, CA), and Sydney Harness (Henderson, NV) all competing as individuals.

Bachmeier started the day in a tie for 16th with 2642 points in the Heptathlon. The second day of events started with the Long Jump where she took 12th thanks to a personal best of 5.25m/17' 2.75" on her second jump, which netted her 628 points moving her up one spot into 15th-place.

In the Javelin she collected 390 points thanks to a personal best throw of 25.42m/83' 4", which came on her second attempt. Then in the final event, the 800m, she ran a 2:29.27, the 13th fastest time as she added another 702 points, bringing her final total to 4362 ending the competition in 19th-place. This was Bachmeier's third Heptathlon since May 12 as she totaled eight personal bests across 21 events.

Raymond ended his championships with his third event and his second individually as he ran the 100m preliminaries with a time of 10.60 finishing 11th. He was 0.08 seconds out of the eighth and final qualifying spot.

In the women's 100m Harness took 15th after running a 12.08. She ended 0.19 seconds out of the eighth qualifying position.

With the conclusion of the two-day Heptathlon there were no individual athletes or relay teams that qualified for the finals tomorrow, the Bulldogs have now concluded their 2023 outdoor season.
