Bulldog Track and Field wins four events at Whittier Twilight

WHITTIER, Calif. – The University of Redlands Track and Field teams picked up 17 top-three finishes and four wins at the Whittier Twilight Meet Friday night.  

Men

The men's team had six top-three finishes with a win in the triple jump coming from Allyn Asberry-Blanco (Orange County, N.Y.) and a pair of personal bests for Wyatt Gibson (San Jose, CA) in the throws.

In the long jump Markelle Raymond (Fresno, CA) was the event runner-up as he jumped 6.72m, 22' 0.75". Coming in right behind him was Nikolas Sorich (San Jose, CA) who jumped 6.42m, 21' 0.75" on his fourth and final attempt. Sorich also added a third-place finish in the triple jump thanks to a third attempt 12.50m, 41' 0.25".

In the triple jump two spots ahead of Sorich was Asberry-Blanco who picked up his first win of 2023, and the second of his career, both coming at the Whittier Twilight, as he ended the event with a fourth jump of 13.16m, 43' 2.25".

The aforementioned Gibson took third in the discus with a throw of 36.89m, 121' 0" on his second to last throw as he posted a new personal best. His second personal best was in the shot put where he posted a mark of 11.97m, 39' 3.25".

The final top-three finisher on the men's side was Tyler Davies (Lake Forest, CA) who was third in the hammer as he took advantage of his final throw with a 38.43m, 126' 1" mark.

Women

On the women's side they had 11 top-three finishes and three event wins. They were especially successful in the throws where they had eight of the 12 top-three finishers including wins from Timony Sherry (Shoreline, WA) in the shot put and Noelle Chavez (Yucaipa, CA) in the discus. The third event win came courtesy of Maigan Adams (Los Angeles, CA) who won the triple jump.

Indoor Division III All-American Ciara Aw (Shoreline, WA) took second in the long jump as she posted her best two jumps on her final two attempts, including her best mark on her final jump as she posted a mark of 5.35m, 17' 6.75".

In the triple jump Adams won the event with a mark on her third attempt of 11.22m, 36' 9.75". The runner-up was Christen Wiley (South San Francisco, CA) who ended the event with a 10.50m, 34' 5.5" jump.

Timony Sherry (Shoreline, WA) won the shot put and was third in the discus with throws of 12.07m, 39' 7.25" and 34.42m, 112' 11".

Caeli Havel (Pahrump, NV) came in second in the shot and discus as she threw 10.40m, 34' 1.5" on her fourth and final attempt in the shot and then a 37.64m, 123' 6" on her third attempt in the discus.

Chavez won the Discus despite not recording a mark on her first three attempts as she threw 39.47m, 129' 6" on her final opportunity.

In the hammer Leslie Sernaque Falcon (Concord, CA) took second thanks to her second throw of 39.69m, 130' 2".

The final top-three finisher was first-year Keegan Sherry (Shoreline, WA) who posted a personal best in the javelin with a mark of 29.09m, 95' 5" coming on her fourth attempt.
