We Love R Seniors - Men's Track and Field

The University of Redlands and Bulldog Athletics would like to take a moment to celebrate the five men's track and field athletes whose spring season was sadly cut short due to the swiftly changing conditions of the current time.

First up, we honor a senior that has made a tremendous impact for four years with the Bulldogs. He currently ranks second in school history and second in Division III with the fastest 200 Meter time of 21.24 that he ran in a first-place performance at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet in February. This senior has combined for 25 first-place finishes as a jumper and a sprinter and has enjoyed three trips to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He has four top-three SCIAC Championship medals, including a 4x100 Relay title as the anchor and a pair of third-place finishes in the High Jump. This senior plans to complete his degree in Studio Arts this spring. From Beaumont, Maliq Champion!

Next, we recognize a four-year senior that has been a staple on the 4x400 Relay. In 2018, he not only helped anchor the SCIAC Champion 4x400 Relay team but also claimed the 400 Meter Dash conference title in the same day with a time of 48.70. He owns five first-place 400 Meter finishes in his career with his fastest time of 48.54 coming in his sophomore season. This Biochemistry major looks forward to pursuing a career as a medical scientist upon the completion of his degree later this month. Hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jordan Washecheck!

Our next senior has made his mark in two seasons with the Maroon and Gray. In his first performance of his career with Redlands, he registered a second-place finish in the Heptathlon with a score of 4,193. He went on to dominate that score with his career-high of 4,482 points in the same event in January. He also achieved his strongest Decathlon total of 6,167 points to place fourth all-time in school history. This senior plans to earn his degree in Business Administration in April. From Yucaipa, Tyler Lufkin!

Our next senior has represented the Bulldogs for four solid seasons. He enjoyed a strong sophomore year with his fastest career 8k and 1500 Meter times of 27:22.0 and 4:03.58, respectively. In 2019, he ran his fastest mile time of 4:33.43 at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet. Earlier this season, he placed 10th in the 800 with a time of 2:03.65 at the SCIAC No. 1 Meet. This Biology major plans to become a pharmacist upon his graduation later this month. Coming from Long Beach, Nolan Ridgeway!

Lastly, we recognize a graduate student that just began his short journey with the Bulldogs. In his first performance of his career, he posted a time of 9:23.60 in the 3,000 Meter, before stopping the clock in 4:20.29 for an eighth-place finish in the 1500 Meter in March. This student-athlete looks forward to receiving his Masters of Science in Geographic Information Systems later this month. From Seattle, Washington, Ty Hranac!

Congratulations, Bulldog seniors! On behalf of the University community, the track and field program, and the Athletics Department, we thank you for your commitment and involvement as Bulldogs for Life. We wish you the best!
