Talented Trio Represents Bulldogs at NCAA Division III Diving Regionals

For the first time in school history, the University of Redlands has qualified three divers for the 2017 NCAA Regional Championships, which take place at Grinnell College (IA) on Friday, February 24, and Saturday, February 25. Freshman Jacob Miner (Antioch, CA), senior Jessica Kolsky (Red Wing, MN), and freshman Sami Scarano (Boulder, CO) look forward to competing in the one-meter and three-meter diving events at the regional meet.

At last weekend's SCIAC Championships, Miner took second place on both boards while exceeding the minimum point requirements to punch his ticket to the postseason. He accumulated 477.90 points in the three-meter competition, before repeating this second-place effort on the one-meter board with a score of 480.45. In addition to qualifying for the regional competition, he became a two-time All-SCIAC honoree in his first year of collegiate diving.

Kolsky exceeded the point standard on the one-meter board with a score of 396.90 at the recent SCIAC Championships. She and Scarano also qualified earlier this season with exceptional six-dive results during two dual meets.

Since the relatively recent addition of the regional diving championships, the Bulldogs have never qualified three divers in the same year. This marks Kolsky's second trip to the NCAA Regional Meet, after advancing as a sophomore with teammate Lindsay Nichols.

Friday's competition includes the women's three-meter and the men's one-meter, followed by the women's one-meter and men's three-meter on Saturday.
