Junior Ellie Jaques Qualifies for Three Events at the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships

It was announced on Sunday that junior Ellie Jaques (Covina, CA) will represent the University of Redlands at the 2016 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina, on March 16-19.  This is her first post-season appearance, as she enters three races following a solid outing at the recent Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships.

After posting NCAA "B" standards in each event, Jaques looks forward to competing at nationals in the 200 Individual Medley, 400 Individual Medley, and the 100 Fly. Her time of 2:07.17 in the 200 IM from the SCIAC Championships placed her second at the meet and now ranks her 37th among the national qualifiers.  In the 400 IM, she uncorked a time of 4:30.11 to take home the SCIAC title and reset the SCIAC and Redlands records.  She enters this NCAA race ranked 21st among the fastest in Division III.  Finally, Jaques qualified for the 100 Fly with a school-record time of 56.89, which came during an exhibition swim at the SCIAC Championships.  Currently, she is ranked 29th in this event.

Jaques races in the 200 IM on Wednesday, March 16, before competing in the 400 IM and 100 Fly on Thursday, March 17.

The national meet takes place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, with the preliminaries beginning each day at 10 a.m. EST, followed by the finals at 6 p.m. EST.  The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) will serve as the host of the national meet.

Jaques joins 526 other participants, including a total of 479 swimmers and 48 divers at the NCAA Championships.

NCAA.com will provide live streaming off all sessions throughout the week.
