Natalie Horton named SCIAC Softball Hitter of the Week

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Softball Athletes of the Week in the seventh week of voting and University of Redlands senior Natalie Horton (Palmdale, CA) earns recognition for the first time this season and the third time in her career.     

Natalie was huge offensively for the Bulldogs as they went 4-1 on the week splitting with Williams before sweeping Whittier College 3-0.  She batted .500 on the week with a .619 OBP and a .688 SLG%.  She combined for eight hits with a double, triple, four walks and three stolen bases.  Don't forget about her seven runs scored and two RBI's.  Natalie totaled 11 bases with two extra base hits and finished with a .938 fielding percentage at shortstop with 20 assists, 10 putouts and a double play.

In Game 1 against Williams was 1-for-3 with a walk, SB and a run scored.  In Game 2 against Williams was a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI, a walk, two stolen bases and scoring a run.  Jumpstarting the series with the Poets she was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and then in the doubleheader was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, a walk, an RBI and a run scored.  The final game on the weekend she finished 1-for-3 scoring twice with a walk.  

Redlands returns to the diamond this weekend for a three-game series with Pomona-Pitzer.  They host the Sagehens on Friday, March 31 for a single game at 3:00pm and will then travel to Claremont, CA on Saturday, April 1 for a doubleheader.
