U of R Softball Collects Pair of All-SCIAC Awards

The postseason awards continue to roll in for the University of Redlands, as the Bulldog softball team landed two on the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams.  As stated in Wednesday's announcement, senior second baseman Julianne Rodriguez (Thousand Oaks, CA) represents the Maroon and Gray on the First Team, while senior catcher Nova Siegel (Fairfield, CA) earns a spot on the Second Team.

Rodriguez becomes a first-time All-Conference selection in her second and final season with the Bulldogs.  While competing in 28 SCIAC games, she made the most of her opportunities at the plate by leading the team with a .456 batting average off of 41 hits.  She also crossed home plate on 19 occasions for the most on the team.  Finally, she stole 21 bases to not only lead the Bulldogs but to pace all SCIAC players.  Defensively, Rodriguez contributed to five double-plays en route to 51 putouts and 41 assists in conference competition.

Siegel also secures her inaugural All-SCIAC award in her second and final season at Redlands.  In a team-leading 91 at-bats during 28 conference games, she connected on 33 hits, including nine doubles and one home run, for a .363 batting average.  In addition, she accounted for 17 RBI and scored 14 runs.  As the team's top catcher, Siegel produced a fielding percentage of .972 off of 54 putouts and 15 assists against SCIAC foes.  Finally, she threw out nine opponents on the base-paths and contributed to three double-plays.
