Senior Standout Grace Rose Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Softball Team

It was recently announced that University of Redlands senior standout Grace Rose (Villa Park, CA) was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Softball Team for NCAA Division III as the sole representative of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

After being utilized as a reserve outfielder last season, Rose earned a starting spot in her final campaign en route to recording career numbers for the Bulldogs. The senior left-fielder has performed exceptionally well this season as the three-hitter in the batting order through the majority of the season. At the conclusion of the regular season, Rose boasts a .408 batting average to go along with a .452 on-base percentage and a .480 slugging percentage. An on-base machine, the senior left-fielder has barreled 51 hits, which is second on the team and includes five doubles. Additionally, she has a solid eye at the plate by drawing 10 walks on the year and has utilized her wheels for nine stolen bases.

Offensively, Rose has been effective throughout the entire season by notching 17 multi-hit games and holding a five-game hitting streak on four separate occasions. Her strongest offensive showing came in the Bulldogs' 10-0 rout against Whittier College, during which she went 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and two runs scored.

Furthermore, she has recorded her best season in the field by earning a .957 fielding percentage with 44 putouts.

Earlier this week, Rose earned her inaugural All-Conference honor with a spot on the Second Team.

Academically, she is a four-time Redlands Scholar-Athlete and likely three-time member of the SCIAC All-Academic team.
