The No. 18 University of Redlands softball team remained undefeated in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition by defeating the visiting Tigers of Occidental College on Saturday by scores of 11-3 and 7-0.

Sophomore pitcher Kayla Uphold (Fontana, CA) enjoyed quite a day in game one as she picked up the victory from the circle as well as her first career grand slam. Overall, she went 3-for-4 at the plate and collected 5 RBI in the process. On the mound, the sophomore transfer threw six innings, allowing five hits and three runs.

The Bulldogs continued the hit parade as sophomore center fielder Sarah Beeman (Corona, CA) went yard in the bottom half of the sixth, pushing Redlands' lead to 10-3. Beeman now has three long balls on the year.

Junior second baseman Molly Duran (Corona, CA) capped off the game with a two-out, lining single to score Uphold, bringing the eight-run rule into effect. Duran went an impressive 3-for-4 in the game.

Four Bulldogs tallied a multi-hit game.

Redlands jumped out to an early lead in the nightcap, opening the game with back-to-back two-run innings.

Veteran slugger first baseman Lizett Casillas (Pomona, CA) initiated the scoring with a big two-run triple in the bottom of the first.

Sophomore third baseman Kirsten Milliner (Torrance, CA) ripped a shot up the middle in the second to clear the bases and give the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead.

The Maroon and Gray tacked on the remaining runs in the fourth, highlighted by junior Rikki Scates' (Redlands, CA) two-RBI single.

Rookie hurler Gabrielle Sciuto (Poway, CA) clinched the win by going five scoreless innings for her fourth victory of the season. The freshman gave up only two hits, walked one and struck out four. Coming out of the pen, freshman reliever Rachel Hachadorian (San Diego, CA) finished out the game without allowing a run.
