The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) office announced its weekly awards earlier today, and for the second week in a row, a University of Redlands men's water polo student-athlete was selected. This time, junior goalkeeper Chris Martinez (Santa Ana, CA) nabbed the honor for Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Martinez played an essential role in the Bulldogs' 12-9 victory over NCAA Division II opponent, Concordia University Irvine on Saturday. Martinez registered 14 saves in the win, including a save on a penalty shot in the first and six stops in the third period to help the Maroon and Gray take a 9-7 lead into the fourth quarter. Overall, Martinez has logged 129:41 minutes and has registered 42 saves in five starts.
