Redlands Men's Water Polo Hauls in Pair of All-SCIAC Awards

It was recently announced by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) that the University of Redlands men's water polo team gained a pair of All-Conference awards, as nominated and voted upon by the head coaches.  Senior utility player Max Taylor (Henderson, NV) was named to the All-SCIAC Second Team for the second-consecutive year, while junior utility player Mitchell Walker (Taylorsville, UT) represented the Bulldogs on the All-Sportsmanship Team for his inaugural All-Conference selection.

For the second-consecutive season, Taylor leads the team in goals and assists with 54 goals and 19 assists.  Against conference foes, he fired off 29 goals and dished out 15 assists.  His physical style of play has given him a team-leading 19 exclusions drawn, including 11 in conference games.

Last year, he also garnered American Water Polo Coaches Association (AWPCA) All-America honors.

Head Coach Tom Whittemore commented, "Max is well-deserving of this honor. He is a truly versatile player who can impact the game in multiple ways on both offense and defense. His work ethic and intensity are a great example for our team."

On the defensive end of the pool, Walker's quick hands and agility have led him to a team-leading 29 overall steals, as highlighted by 19 in SCIAC matches.

"Mitchell's work ethic is second to none. He always does whatever the team needs. He works hard year around, and that is obvious by his continued improvement. He is everything we want our program to be as an athlete and a student," Whittemore stated.
