The University of Redlands men's water polo team hosted the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges Stags for Senior Day at the Thompson Aquatic Center on Saturday morning.  After honoring the careers and contributions of seniors Brandon Yee (Pacifica, CA), Chris Sekula (LaGrange, IL), Mark Zikov (La Quinta, CA), Zac Polmanteer (Long Beach, CA), Kyle Murata (Brea, CA), and Danny Hartwig (Vista, CA), the Bulldogs battled through a competitive and physical match that resulted in a 7-9 loss for the home team.

Redlands jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first period due in part to the continued stellar efforts of Sekula between the pipes, as he racked up six saves in the first eight minutes.  Hartwig initiated the Maroon and Gray's offensive run, before junior driver Kevin Chapa (Carlsbad, CA) and Murata capped off the quality quarter with a goal apiece.

The Bulldogs made it a 4-2 game on a sweet netter by freshman driver Spencer Allen (Long Beach, CA), but the Stags answered with back-to-back scores of their own.

Redlands regained the lead early in the third off of a score by sophomore driver Ty Williams (Rancho Cucamonga, CA).  However, the momentum shifted back to the Stags, who rattled off five-straight goals to keep the Bulldogs at bay.

Hartwig provided Redlands' final two scores of the game but it was not enough to rally back.

Overall, Sekula stepped up with 14 saves in a complete-game effort.

Redlands (14-14, 3-3 SCIAC) finishes out its home schedule on Wednesday, November 9, when it hosts the University of La Verne at 7 p.m. at the Thompson Aquatic Center.
