Redlands Men's Water Polo Takes on Top-Ranked Foes to Complete Opening Weekend

The University of Redlands men's water polo team wrapped up a challenging first weekend of action by taking on UCLA and Stanford University at the UCLA Invite in San Diego.   The Bulldogs put up four goals against the top-ranked Bruins en route to a 4-14 loss, before suffering a similar result against the fifth-ranked Cardinal, 4-15.

During the two contests, sophomore center Billy Clifford (Redlands, CA0 led the Bulldogs by scoring three goals.  Senior center-defender Danny Hartwig (Vista, CA0 added two as the only other multi-score performer.

Senior goalkeeper Chris Sekula (LaGrange, IL) provided a valiant effort in both games, racking up 24 saves on the day.

Redlands (0-4) returns home to the friendly confines of the Thompson Aquatic Center on Saturday, September 10, and Sunday, September 11, when it hosts the Inland Empire Classic.  The Bulldogs square off against Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at 9 a.m. and then take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges at 2:40 p.m. during the first day of competition.
