The University of Redlands men's water polo team used a total-team effort on Wednesday evening at the Thompson Aquatic Center as it blew past Caltech, 19-3.  While using a variety of players in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) contest, the Bulldogs jumped on top early and never looked back.

Redlands exploded for seven goals in the first quarter, while only surrendering one to the Beavers.  The Bulldogs built on that advantage in the second stanza with a trio of goals, while adding five more in the third period.  The U of R finished off the Beavers with four additional scores in the final quarter, capping off the dominating 16-goal win.

Leading the way for the Maroon and Gray, freshman driver Jacob Schurkman (Norco, CA) tallied a team-high three goals.  In addition, junior driver Michael Robinson (Corona, CA), senior center-defender David Sekula (LaGrange, IL), senior driver Keaton Lynn (Oakley, CA) and freshman driver Bryden Newell (Laguna Niguel, CA) each found the back of the net twice.

Also supplementing the Bulldog attack was the senior center duo of Grant Harrington (Poway, CA) and Clint Freeman (Brentwood, CA), each providing one score.  Moreover, senior driver Alex Keith (Bellevue, WA), sophomore center-defender Nelson Glendinning (Philadelphia, PA), freshman drivers Brandon Yee (San Mateo, CA) and Zac Polmanteer (Long Beach, CA), sophomore driver John Koning (Poway, CA), and freshman center Taylor Althaus (Alta Loma, CA) all tacked on one goal as well.

In the cage, senior goalkeeper Tyler Abbott (Alta Loma, CA) notched three saves in the triumph, while sophomore goalkeeper Christian Jamison (San Bernardino, CA) and freshman goalkeeper Chris Sekula (LaGrange, IL) recorded six saves and one save, respectively.

The U of R (15-13, 4-2 SCIAC) returns to the pool on Saturday when it travels to the University of La Verne to take on the Leopards.  The contest is set to start at 11 a.m.
