No. 13 Bulldog Men's Tennis Soars past No. 16 Mary Washington Eagles, 7-2

Brad Cummins hits a forehand

The No. 13 University of Redlands men's tennis team returned to the familiar setting at Verdieck Courts on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference tilt against No. 16 University of Mary Washington (VA).  While winning two of the three doubles matches, the Bulldogs efficiently put this one in the books with three singles wins en route to a 7-2 victory over the Eagles.

In doubles, first-year Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) and junior Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) put together a strong 8-3 triumph at No. 2 before senior Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) and sophomore Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) prevailed at the top slot by a score of 8-5.

Although Mary Washington snagged the point at No. 3, the Bulldogs quickly responded in singles with straight-set wins in the first three matches off the court.  Libao made quick work of his No. 4 counterpart with a 6-3, 6-1 performance, while first-year Cameron Krimbill (Scottsdale, AZ) took down his No. 3 opponent by scores of 6-4, 6-2.  With the Bulldogs' 4-1 lead, Cummins officially sealed the deal with a 6-2, 7-5 showing at the No. 6 slot.

In addition, Lipscomb and sophomore Andrew Leahy (Claremont, CA) registered wins for the Maroon and Gray.

Redlands (6-3) hits the courts again on Friday, March 9, when it hosts No. 30 Christopher Newport University (VA) in non-conference action at 1 p.m.
