The No. 18 University of Redlands men's tennis team made quick work of the visiting Occidental College Tigers on Saturday to open Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition with a 9-0 win on Verdieck Courts.  After sweeping the doubles, the Bulldogs remained on cruise control for an outstanding performance in singles with three freshmen notching wins.

In doubles, the No. 1 duo of junior Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) and senior Jake Ly (Torrance, CA) put together a dominating 8-2 win to get things started.  Senior Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) and sophomore Thomas Hanely (Winnetka, IL) repeated this result at the No. 3 slot, before sophomore Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and freshman Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) closed out the sweep with an 8-6 decision at No. 2.

In singles, freshman Avery Davis (Jensen Beach, FL) kept things rolling with his 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 2 position for Redlands' 4-0 lead. Cummins sealed the deal for the Bulldogs by taking down his No. 4 opponent in impressive fashion, 6-0, 6-0.

With the win already in the books, the Maroon and Gary also gained victories from Wilson, junior Cooper Lacetera (Westhampton Beach, NY), freshman Andrew Leahy (Claremont, CA), and sophomore Adrian Nilsson-Redman (Irvine, CA).

The Bulldogs (3-1, 1-0 SCIAC) continues conference action on Saturday, March 4, when they travel to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges for a 10 a.m. showdown at 10 a.m.
