The 14th-ranked University of Redlands men's tennis team came up short for the first time this season, falling to the No. 23 Wesleyan University (CT) Cardinals by a score of 2-7. After the Bulldogs struggled through the doubles, they mustered just two wins in singles in an uncharacteristic showing.
The Maroon and Gray battled through a tough day of doubles action, with the top tandem of junior Jake Ly (Torrance, CA) and sophomore Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) producing the closest score of 8-6but to no avail.
In singles, freshman Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) blew by his No. 3 opponent by scores of 6-3, 6-2, while junior Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) also impressed with his 6-2, 6-2 victory at the No. 4 slot.
After winning the opening set at both Nos. 1 and 6, Redlands unfortunately saw that momentum slip away, with both three-setters going in favor of Wesleyan.
Redlands (8-1) looks forward to facing the No. 26 University of Texas – Tyler on Tuesday, March 15, at 3 p.m. on Verdieck Courts.
