The No. 14 University of Redlands men's tennis team took to Verdieck Courts for a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday.  The Bulldogs cruised by Wabash College (IN) in an 8-1 decision to open the day, before earning a 6-3 win against the No. 15 University of Mary Washington (VA) Eagles.

In the first match, the Maroon and Gray stormed out to a quick lead by winning at Nos. 2 and 3 in doubles.  Freshman Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and junior Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) initiated the scoring with an 8-3 victory at No. 2, while the freshman tandem of Bryant Johnson (Fair Oaks, CA) and Sawyer Patterson (Burbank, CA) earned the same result at No. 3.

Although Wabash pulled one back at the top spot, Redlands dominated the singles matches to secure the 8-1 tally.  Graduate student Taylor Hunt (Seattle, WA) blanked his No. 5 opponent, 6-0, 6-0, for the Bulldogs' 3-1 lead.  Lipscomb kept things rolling at the No. 3 slot by earning a 6-1, 6-2 victory.  Sophomore Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) officially sealed the deal for the Maroon and Gray by taking down his No. 1 foe, 6-1, 6-1.

In addition, junior Jake Ly (Torrance, CA), Wilson, and Johnson each registered straight-set victories for the Bulldogs.

During the team's second outing, the Maroon and Gray captured all three doubles points with resounding results.  Lipscomb and Wilson set the tone at No. 2 with an 8-1 win, before Patterson and Johnson followed suit with their 8-4 showing at the No. 3 slot.  Dulle and Ly completed the sweep by defeating the top tandem by a score of 8-3.

In singles, Redlands prevailed in the first two matches off the court to put this victory in the books.  Lipscomb rolled to a 6-3, 7-6(0) triumph, while Hunt took down his No. 5 opponent, 6-3, 6-1 to clinch the Bulldogs' eighth win of the season.

Dulle also won in singles, rallying to take a three-setter, 6-2, 0-6, 6-4, at No. 1.

Redlands (8-0) welcomes No. 23 Wesleyan University (CT) to Verdieck Courts on Friday, March 11, for a 2 p.m. non-conference showdown.
