No. 17 Redlands Men's Tennis Garners Senior Sweep over Whittier College

With all seven seniors competing in the line-up, the No. 17 University of Redlands men's tennis team swept the Whittier College Poets in the Maroon and Gray's final Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) dual-match of the season on Friday.  With the impressive win, the Bulldogs celebrated their seniors with a quality send-off on Verdieck Courts.

The Maroon and Gray highlighted six of its seniors in the three doubles duos for the first time this season.  The top tandem of Patrick Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and Nick Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) got things rolling in fine fashion by collecting an 8-2 win.  Gram Leahy (Portland, OR) and Ted Burchett (Gold River, CA) quickly followed suit with their 8-3 victory at No. 2, while Max Licona (Los Angeles, CA) and Teddy Jones (St. Louis, MO) secured the doubles sweep with an 8-5 showing at No. 3.

In singles, Leahy jumped out of the gates with his flawless 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6, before freshman Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) officially sealed the deal by dismissing his No. 5 opponent, 6-1, 6-1.

In addition, senior Taylor Hunt (Seattle, WA) joined the action by cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 4 slot.

Finally, Lipscomb, Cummins, and sophomore Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) took care of business at Nos. 1, 2, and 3, respectively, for the 9-0 Bulldog victory.   

Redlands (15-7, 6-1 SCIAC) looks forward to competing in the 115th Ojai Tournament on Friday, April 24, through Sunday, April 26.
