The 15th-ranked University of Redlands men's tennis team squared off against No. 13 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) match on Friday in Claremont.  After facing a slight deficit in doubles, the Bulldogs never recovered en route to the 3-6 defeat.

The Sagehens jumped out to a 2-0 lead by earning triumphs at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles.

But the Maroon and Gray cut the deficit in half with an 8-4 win at the No. 2 slot by juniors Nick Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) and Gram Leahy (Portland, OR).

After Cummins was forced to retire from his singles match at No. 2, junior Patrick Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) posted an impressive 6-2, 6-3 performance at the No. 1 spot.

The teams traded points at Nos. 4 and 5, with Bulldog freshman Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) coming out victorious by scores of 6-1, 6-3.

However, the Sagehens prevailed in both of the remaining matches, leading to the three-point loss for the Maroon and Gray.

Redlands (7-10, 1-2 SCIAC) looks to immediately rebound as it heads to No. 20 Cal Lutheran University on Saturday for a 10 a.m. showdown against the Kingsmen.
